Race to the Top Math Game
This is a fun game we learned from our Skype buddies today. You need the gameboard below and dice. The object of the game is to fill all of the squares (reach the top of the last column). Each player takes a turn rolling the die and adding counters (or other small objects) to fill that number of squares. When nearing the end of the game, the winning player must fill the squares exactly (may not go over). For example, if there are 3 squares left and the player rolls a 4, they must miss their turn and try again next roll.
To print your gameboards, copy and paste the image below into a word processor. Resize as necessary. Print one for each player.
Have fun playing Race to the Top!

Monday, December 12, 2011 Words of the Week
Our words of the week this week are built from the letters in "tongue" - this is a word we read in the poem But Then by Aileen Fisher. You can print the letter cards below and help your child build the words on their words of the week list. Just copy and paste the image below into a word processor file and print it. Next, cut out the letters with your child. Then you are ready to build words!
Here are the words we built today:
go, no, on, to, ten, net, get, got, not, nut, gun, note, tongue
Have fun working with words!

Friday, December 9th
This is our first time writing a post as a class. We have had a very busy week! On Tuesday, we went to the high school to watch their Christmas play. On Wednesday, we went over to the high school for breakfast and we learned about where food comes from. We have been practicing our Christmas concert too. We have also been learning lots! In math we are estimating. If you have a picture of something we can estimate, please email us at lobach@pwsd.ca We have also been learning about more than and less than with numbers up to 20. We are reading lots of books, even all by ourselves.
